Creative Giving

There are many ways to make a different with your regular purchases, assests, and even life insurance.  Utilizing some of these creative ways to give makes a significant impact on Spring Creek's ongoing ministries to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Some of the options below are designated through our King's Foundation.  The King's Foundation was established by Spring Creek in 1994 and provides unique ways to provide impact-gifts to the work of the Church.

Bank Bill Pay

If your bank has automated bill paying, you can set up Spring Creek Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.  Your bank bill pay system will need the following information:

Spring Creek Church
N35W22000 Capitol Dr
Pewaukee, WI 53072
Telephone 262 695 2211

Stock or Mutual Funds

You can donate appreciated securities such as stock, mutual funds, or bonds and often times receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as a charitable gift at the appreciated amount. Also, by donating appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with your tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities.

If you would like to donate securities you can initiate the transfer through your broker and request that the securities be transferred to:

LPL Financial
1055 LPL Way
Fort Mill, SC 29715

DTC number is 0075

For further credit to Garfield Baptist Church d/b/a Spring Creek Church
Account Number 45921737

Please feel free to contact Pastor Jeremy Rush at 262 695 2211 or jrush@springcreek.church if you are considering this kind of gift so that we can understand how you would like this gift to be utilized and send you a tax receipt in a timely manner.

For gifts of securities, please note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to Spring Creek before the securities are in the church account, and the IRS recognizes the date of your gift as the date the securities are in the church account, not the date you talked to your broker.

Life Insurance

When the original purpose for a life insurance policy no longer applies—such as educating children now grown or providing financial security for a spouse now deceased—your policy can become a powerful and simple way to give. There are three ways to give life insurance to Spring Creek Church:

Name us a beneficiary of the policy. This gift is as simple as updating your beneficiary designation form with the policy holder. You can designate us as the primary beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount. You can also make us the contingent beneficiary so that we will receive the balance of your policy only if your primary beneficiary doesn't survive you.

Make an outright gift of an existing policy. You can name us as owner and beneficiary of an existing policy. You qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize on your taxes. If you continue to pay premiums on the policy, each payment is tax deductible as a charitable gift when you itemize.

Make an outright gift of a new policy. You can take out a new policy and irrevocably name Spring Creek Church as the owner and the beneficiary of the insurance contract. This method may be particularly attractive for the younger donor. Whether you make one single premium payment for the policy or pay annual premiums, each payment is tax deductible as a charitable gift when you itemize.

Donor Advised Funds

Are you looking for an easy, cost-effective way to support Spring Creek Church and other causes you love? A donor advised fund, which is like a charitable savings account, may be the right choice for you.

Here's how it works. You transfer cash or other assets to The King's Foundation, Inc., the foundation the church established in 1994. You qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction at the time you contribute to the account, and you have the power to take your time and be deliberate as you make recommendations on which charities to support whenever you want. You centralize your giving and record-keeping in one location.

The King’s Foundation offers advantages over other organizations that could hold your donor advised fund, i.e., The King’s Foundation charges no set up fees, no management fees and has the church leadership available to you if you want Biblical guidance on how best to distribute the wealth God has entrusted to you.

If you already have a donor advised fund and want to include Spring Creek Church in your plans, please use our legal name and Federal Tax ID.

Credit Card Reward Points

You may be able to donate your Credit Card Reward Points.
Donating rewards and perks that might otherwise go to waste is a painless way to help.  One study indicated in one year’s time about one-third of earned loyalty rewards — worth $16 billion! — weren’t redeemed.

Here’s how you can contribute:
1. Go to your loyalty program’s charity page and log in to your account.
2. Under “Select a charity”, write-in Spring Creek Church, N35W22000 Capitol Dr, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Indicate how many points or miles or how much cash back you want to donate. Generally, rewards will be deducted from your balance right away, and you’ll get a confirmation email from your loyalty program.
Loyalty programs usually count donations as “account activity.” That means that if your points or miles are due to expire because of inactivity, a small donation could restart the clock. If you’ve been sitting on a mother lode of miles because you’re waiting for a sweet flight deal, making a mileage donation could keep those miles active.

The IRS generally views credit card rewards as discounts, not income. So even if you earned thousands of dollars’ worth of credit card sign-up bonuses this year, Uncle Sam doesn’t see that as income and doesn’t send you a tax bill.  But, because Uncle Sam doesn’t see it as income, he also doesn’t give you a tax write-off.  But…your gift could mean Spring Creek doesn’t have to spend real money when the staff or guest missionaries need to travel.  However, you could get a tax deduction if you redeemed your rewards for cash back and used that money to make a separate donation.
Your credit card company probably considers contributions of reward points irreversible. For the most part, points and miles donations are final. So before you donate, make sure you’ve thought things through.
